learn about this

once-in-a-lifetime coffee

Los Morales’ Geisha is a coffee shaped by both passion and place. Grown at 5,905 feet on the slopes of Alotepeque, this lot captures the elegance and complexity of Geisha, nurtured by volcanic soil, cool mountain air, and the careful hands of the Morales family. Only the ripest cherries are picked by hand each January, then slowly transformed in the family’s on-site mill. Small pulpers, solar drying tunnels, and African beds allow the coffee to develop with patience and attention at every stage.

For their Geisha, the Morales family experiments with natural and honey processes, as well as longer anaerobic fermentations up to 72 hours. Drying can stretch 30 to 40 days depending on the weather, preserving each layer of flavor. The result is a cup of rare clarity and depth.

Scoring an exceptional 91.80, this cup delights with notes of vanilla, apricot, stone fruit, and earl grey, softened by a gentle warmth of cinnamon. Silky and bright, the finish lingers long after the last sip. Los Morales Geisha is more than a coffee. It is a celebration of dedication, heritage, and the Morales family’s journey home.

meet the farmer

The Morales Family

They say the heart always returns to where it belongs, for the Morales family that truth led them back to the high reaches of the Alotepeque mountains. Decades earlier, Henri’s father had lost their land during the civil war in El Salvador. As children, Henri and his family began a new life in the city of Metapán. Years later, Henri returned to honor his father’s memory, revive the land, and create opportunities for the local community.

This vision became Finca Los Morales, a farm perched at 5,905 feet above sea level, overlooking the lush Nebuloso Montecristo forest. Henri carefully cultivates both native and exotic varieties, including Geisha, Pacamara, and Kenyas, on land perfectly suited for coffee.

For the Morales family, their farm is more than just coffee. It is a way to honor their father’s dream, support a community, and show that even once-forgotten regions can flourish as a true jewel for specialty coffee. Each season, the dedication of Henri and his team is reflected in the exceptional quality of the harvest, producing coffee that carries a story of heritage, resilience, and heart.

The Cup of Excellence is the most prestigious coffee competition, identifying the finest coffees through rigorous evaluation. Thousands are submitted, but only a handful per country earn the coveted name. These rare, top-scoring coffees are then auctioned to the highest bidders—an honor few U.S. roasters achieve. Yet, Angelino’s has done just that. For the first time ever, we’re bringing you the best coffees in the world, each crowned a Cup of Excellence in its country. Now, they’re yours to experience.
