High in the cloud-covered mountains of Tarrazú, Costa Rica, Ricardo Calderón Madrigal has been growing coffee for over 40 years and he’s never stopped evolving. His journey began in the 1980s, when he planted his first 300 coffee plants using an ox cart - the very same one that still sits in front of his home today.

In 2014, Ricardo purchased a stunning high-altitude farm named Don Cayito. Perched at 1,950 meters, his farm is now home to meticulously cared-for lots of Red Catuai, Geisha, and Typica Mejorado. Each plot receives personalized care, from soil analysis to customized fertilization, all guided by a clear and unwavering commitment to quality.

That commitment has earned Ricardo widespread recognition, including multiple Cup of Excellence first place wins in 2011, 2022, and again in 2024.
