Winning at the Cup of Excellence competition is a life-changing achievement that elevates farmers, their families, and entire communities. Farmers can earn up to 100 times more for their coffee than the price of lower-grade beans. Recent auctions saw COE-winning coffees selling from $18.30 to $132 per pound, with Ethiopia setting a new all-time record at $445 per pound, the highest price ever paid at an auction for any country. In contrast, commodity coffee typically sells for less than $2 per pound.

Costa Rica’s dedication to great coffee
In addition to being a beautiful country to visit, I was impressed with their country’s dedication to quality, full-bodied coffee without all the fru-fru flavorings often added to make lesser-quality coffees found elsewhere. Visiting plantations in Costa Rica is an education into why I rated this coffee so high.

I bought 3 if the Tastes of Excellent K-the beans back in stock so I order them.coffees to try the flavors I must say El Salvador is wonderful! The flavor is strong but smooth, one of the best cups of coffee I have ever had. Hopeful they will get the beans back in stock soon.
