Don’t even talk to me until I’ve had my coffee!
When I first heard about the Nespresso brewer, I was thrilled. As a working mom, I’m usually on-the-go, some days I want a classic americano, and other days, I’m in the mood for a latte — something sweeter to sip on. I knew that this machine would be the answer to my prayers: the bliss of espresso without the hassle of coffee shop lines and prices.
The machine delivered as promised. It worked just as quickly as everyone says, producing any coffee you want within seconds of pushing the button. But overtime, I suppose I got bored of buying the same Nespresso capsules. This boredom brought me back to my old routine of going to a coffee shop everyday. When I discovered Angelino’s, it felt like my passion for coffee reignited.
One morning, I was getting ready to take my daughter to school. Per usual, I was running late. I asked my husband, “Can you take Sophia to school today? I don’t think I’ll have time to stop for coffee if I do.”
He shrugged, “It would save you more time and money in the morning if you used our Nespresso here at home.”
“Hmm, you’re right. Not really sure why I haven’t been using it?” I wondered.
“Maybe all you need is to try something new. You should explore other Nespresso compatible brands, you might find a better alternative,” he said.
That conversation sat with me as I continued to think about it all day at work. My husband was right. I don’t remember the last time I bought new capsules to brew and was excited. That night, I spent some time looking online for Nespresso compatible brands. I can’t believe I convinced myself to go back to a coffee shop, as if it would really save me more time or money having a barista make something I could brew at home. Really ridiculous way of thinking, I know.
I started to make a list of what is most important to me in deciding which brand to buy next:
After making this list, I took a break from buying coffee daily and had no capsules to brew while searching for a new brand to try. Of course, I started to experience serious caffeine withdrawal. I don’t know if any of you have ever tried to give up coffee before, but I don’t recommend it. My head was killing me, and I felt like I was always tired. But more than that, I missed my morning ritual of a hot cup of coffee.
After days of browsing on the internet and social media, I eventually narrowed it down to Angelino’s.
What really piqued my interest was the story behind the brand, it was family-owned! With the hardships small businesses faced and continue to face with the pandemic, I knew this is where I wanted to put my money towards. I could really see that this brand was defined by their family values, passion, and company culture. The fact that the coffee was roasted and shipped directly to me (skipping the time big brands let it sit in a warehouse) the prices were definitely more affordable compared to others, and it was much more convenient to buy, were all such a huge plus.
I decided to ask my friend Stacy if she knew about Angelino’s during our Tuesday spin class. I trusted her recommendations because she drinks coffee religiously everyday.
Of course she noticed my coffee withdrawal symptoms and asked me if I was coming down with something. I explained to her that I wasn’t sick, but that I had to stop drinking coffee until I found a new brand to try.
“I’ve been meaning to ask, have you tried Angelino’s?” I asked.
She smiled. “That’s my favorite brand!”
My eyes lit up, “No way, really? What do you like about it? I’ve been in search of a new brand to try with my Nespresso, Angelino’s did stand out particularly so I was curious about your thoughts.”
“Yup, they’re an online brand,” she said, leaning in. “They’re all I drink now. And they’re not expensive either – I only pay 47¢ per capsule and delivery is free!”
.47¢ per capsule and free delivery?! It didn’t seem bad compared to how much I was spending at the coffee shop.
“Wow, that’s great!” I admitted, “But what makes them so special? I’ll be honest I haven’t tried that many brands but I’m hoping that the next one I try checks off most of what my requirements are.”
“Well aside from the cost, they are one of the few Nespresso alternatives that sell aluminum capsules. This is a huge plus because it really seals in the freshness of the coffee,” she said, “Their shipping time is pretty quick, I usually receive my order within 3 days. So the process is extremely convenient.”
“You had me at ‘convenience.’ You know how important that is to me!” I said.
“Honestly, I think this company is great,” Stacy said. “What more can you really ask for besides quality tasting coffee, low prices and convenience?”
“I’m SO relieved to hear that.” I said.
“Yeah, you won’t be disappointed,” Stacy agreed, “If you decide to order online, you should purchase one of their variety packs, I loved their 4 blends!”
“Wow, it sounds too good to be true. Alright, you convinced me!” I said.
“Here, let me send you my referral link,” she said. “We both get rewards when you sign up and make your first purchase!”
After signing up, I took Stacy’s advice and ordered the variety pack. The dashboard was extremely easy-to-use; a couple clicks and I made my first purchase.
Within just a few days, I came home to my order waiting for me at my doorstep. I plugged my Nespresso back in, and with a push of a button, the cup began to fill up.
From the aroma that spread through the room, I knew this wasn’t over-roasted and that I was in for a treat. The first sip confirmed it…WOW. It was so flavorful! To be honest, I thought I was dreaming. I was so impressed with the taste! The flavor was so rich! Finally, a coffee brand that was worth the price.
I’d given my Nespresso back its place of honor on our kitchen counter, already thinking of ways to decorate my coffee station again. Moments later, I was online setting up the auto-delivery option so that I’d never worry about running out.
Thanks to Angelino’s, I got my morning coffee back, at a price that didn’t break the family budget.
